Do You Like Frogs?

I dug a small pond in our backyard. This year it was full of tadpoles. The tadpoles have now all turned into little frogs. They are so cute! Well, if you like frogs, that is. I took a couple of pictures with my iPhone. The frogs have just lost their tails, and are now sitting on the lily pad leaves. I just love watching them! Unfortunately, our dogs do, too. Except they want to eat them. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, you may be able to make out the little critters.

Our first "day lily" planted by the pond has blossomed today, so that makes me really happy. Our backyard is all clay unfortunately, and I have a terrible time trying to get anything to grow.

Pink Saturday June 22, 2013

It's been a while since I've participated in Beverly's Pink Saturday, but when I saw this rose in bloom by our backyard deck, I thought it would be perfect to share. It's an English Rose named Evelyn by David Austen. I took the photo with my iPhone, and then added a couple of elements with Photoshop CS 2.

If you would like to see the posts of the other people participating in this week's Pink Saturday, just click on the picture below. It will take you to How Sweet The Sound, the blog of our hostess Beverly.

By the way, I hope you can stop by again on July 13 th. I'm participating in the Mad Tea Party blog hop. It's always a fun time!

Digital Whisper's Midsummer Eve's Blog Hop

In the waning light
of this midsummer’s eve
I dream of fairies
and the tales they weave.

I dream of swimming
in the moonlight’s beams
while the mermaids dance
in the depths unseen.

I embrace the warmth
of the setting sun
and dream of love
til the new day’s begun.

Beauty's Inspiration

Lani asked us to find three things that inspired us and would inspire us in training our elephant. (You'll need to read Lani's e-zine to find out what training your elephant is all about.) I really enjoyed seeing the roses in bloom, the water in our pond, and the beautiful moon. I, of course, had to represent myself jumping into the middle of all of that beauty.

Eveline

Here are two more photos of roses. They are named "Eveline" and are by David Austin. I love these roses, not only because of their beautiful pale pink color, but also because they have a slight scent of lemon. The bush use to be covered with roses at our first home, but it hasn't bloomed as profusely since we moved the bush to our present home. They still make me happy when they bloom.

Flowers To End The Day

I spent the afternoon with my father in the nursing home. His dementia is getting worse, and he is looking terrible. I'm wondering if he won't die sometime this year. My mother died last year, and maybe it will be my father this year. He's been struggling with diabetes, and the diabetes is winning. I thought I'd post a few roses from our backyard to end the day on a better note.

Dare I say, "Pleasant dreams?"

Anger/Regret

Jeanette House who hosts the One Little House ning site has a free group where she is demonstrating painting to help deal with feelings. I haven't touched paint in at least six weeks. That's really a shame since I am taking the year long Life Book 2013 art classes. Things have gotten so crazy with issues going on here that I just couldn't fight my inner critic. Well, I decided to try doing the simpler painting that Jeanette was showing, and ended up with this one about anger and regrets. Maybe now I can get back to the Life Book classes.

Mad Tea Party July 13, 2013!

Can you believe it has been almost a year already since our last Mad Tea Party? Vanessa from A Fanciful Twist is hosting the blog hop party again on Saturday July 13 th. I hope you will stop by for a visit! Mad Tea Parties are so much fun!!! They are absolutely the best way to send the doldrums away. I know for a fact there have been way too many doldrums sneaking around this past year, and nothing chases them away like a good spot of tea and meeting new friends.

If you would like to host a Mad Tea Party on your blog, too, just click this link to get all of the details: http://afancifultwist.typepad.com/a_fanciful_twist/2013/05/mad-tea-party-2013-an-invitation.html
