Mad Tea Party Today!

It finally arrived,
the day we have planned for
for nearly a year.
We’re having a party,
and it’s all across blogland
with tea pots, I hear.

There’s plenty of goodies
and plenty of beer.
Wait. Who brought the beer?
This is a tea party!
There’s no boozing here.

I hope you dressed crazy,
for we’re really quite mad.
That’s mad as in crazy.
The Mad Hatter is near!

So if you are ready,
then enter right here.
Any creatures are friendly.
There’s nothing to fear.

(Please feel free to click on any picture if you'd like to see a larger size.)

In case you forgot, choose a pill and swallow it down. Then you'll fit through the keyhole.

Why look! It's Lani Puppetmaker! I knew she'd be here, and she brought pretty balloons.

Woops! I need to make a few adjustments. We went a little too far.

(In other words, I borrowed some of the food pictures from their blogs!)

Oh my. Grannie Annie has just reminded me that I promised she could recite her favorite tea poem. What good is a mad tea party without a mad tea poem after all?
Just promise not to stare at her warts. She just hasn't been the same since she kissed that frog.

When the world is all at odds
And the mind is all at sea
Then cease the useless tedium
And brew a cup of tea.
There is magic in its fragrance,
There is solace in its taste;
And the laden moments vanish
Somehow into space.
The world becomes a lovely thing!
There’s beauty as you’ll see;
All because you briefly stopped
To brew a cup of tea.

Well, before we start tasting all those French goodies that are going to make us so fat, I suppose we ought to pour a cup of tea. But where is our host?

Go ahead! Sit down! Relax! Let me pour you a cup of tea. We have 3 different flavors.
I just don't exactly remember which pot is which. But who cares? We're all mad here today!

May I interest you in a macaron? There are so many to choose from, and the colors are quite gay! (as in happy, fun, joyful, oh my!)

Oh I know. It's so difficult to choose!

Would it help you decide if I told you the lemon fillings were made by the Queen of Tarts?
She's standing right over there!

Oh look. Lady June has chosen strawberry. I bet she wanted one to match her hat!

I see some of you are eying the eclairs. Don't be shy. Take any you like!
They are specially decorated for our mad tea party.

Oh dear. I'm starting to feel full. But I think we need more chocolate, don't you?

What? You still want just a little something more? Then I'll tempt you with these!

My, my. I dare say we better not eat one more bite! We'll never all fit back into Dr. Who's box.
Of course, it wouldn't be so bad to stay in France, would it?
Maybe if we just lay down and rest a moment.
While were resting, let's see how the French celebrate one of their fun days.

The video was by Eric Tenin who writes the fantastic blog about Paris called "Paris Daily Photo." Maybe we should try having an all white tea party the next time! Here's another one by Eric, but it's quite long. You may want to pause it if you don't have time to watch the entire video.

Wow, that was exciting!

Well, I hate to be a party-pooper, but the Doctor's box is revved up and it's time for us to return home. If you'd like though, we could stop at A Fanciful Twist and find out who else is having a mad tea party today. I know all of them would like you to visit! Just click on the link above for a shortcut to Vanessa's blog.

Paris Nights, Paris Lights

I wrote to ask Eric Tenin who writes the blog Paris Daily Photo if I might use a couple of his photos again to create a digital collage. He graciously wrote back,
"Bonjour William,

Of course you may post your collage on your blog, I'll be honored (once more, as I do remember what you did the first time with my clock photo!)

Bonne journée."
How fun to be writing to someone living in Paris! Eric took three photos of Paris lights at night. I ended up with one of my crazy collages, but hopefully you'll like it! Be sure to click on the picture if you would like to see a larger version of it.

Paris nights,
Paris lights,
strolling through
the city of love.

City sights,
city delights,
tonight we may be
falling in love!

(Of course, I had to write a short poem to go with it.)
I know you would enjoy visiting Eric's blog to see his original photos. He posts a new photo of Paris every day. I love them so much that I have them delivered to my email. If you click on the name Paris Daily Photo it should take you there.
One of the layers I used in the collage is from Pink Lotty's "Cracked Papers," the lamppost is from C. Renee's kit "French Cafe," and the bench from Holliewood's kit "Enchanted."

Need This Moment - For Marguerite

Marguerite Bryant sent me a wonderful book titled "Healing After Loss" after my mother died last month. She had to face several deaths in her family recently, too. I created this digital picture for her based on one of the quotes in the book.

Marguerite loves walking through the forest. I also think it is one of most peaceful and healing things a person can do.

Drown No More

I don't know where the inspiration for this weird, short poem I wrote came from, but . . .

Pink Saturday - July 14 th.

It's been a while since I've participated in Beverly's Pink Saturday, but I found myself creating a picture with pink in it after reading one of her emails.

I seem to be loving abstracts and lots of color lately.   :O)

Be sure to visit Beverly's blog http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/ so you can find the links to all the other blogs who are participating. You never know what pink things will show up!

Seth Apter - This Sunday's Pulse

Seth Apter from "The Altered Page" emailed me to say that one of my photos will be featured along with other artists' on his blog this coming Sunday. He had us create a still life and then take a picture of it. It's always fun to see what other people have created in response to Seth's prompts. I hope you will visit his blog on July 15 th! http://thealteredpage.blogspot.com/
